Configuring Email

Overview

Data Governor can be configured to send email notifications. In order to do so, you will need to configure settings within Data Governor, and potentially liase with your IT administrator for additional configuration on their end.

User Credentials or Anonymous Relay?

In order for Data Governor to send email, you will need to make a decision around whether to use a mail enabled service account, or configure your mail server to provide an anonymouse relay rule to the Data Governor server(s).

User Credentials

To configure Data Governor to send emails using a particular user account, ensure your IT Administrator has provided you with the following;

  • A mail enabled account, along with the password.
  • The hostname and port of the SMTP server that DG should send email through.

Anonymous Relay

To configure Data Governor to send emails using an anonymous relay, ensure your IT Administrator has provided you with the following;

  • The hostname and port of the SMTP server that DG should send email through.
  • An open relay rule on the SMTP server for the Data Governor front-end and back-end servers.
    • The most common way to do this is via the IP Address of the sending server. You should retrieve the IP addresses of the front-end and back-end Data Governor servers and provide this to your IT Administrator.
